Weatherization

Assistance (WAP)

What is WAP?

The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) is a program under which grants are made to the states by the federal and the states provide subgrants to local community action agencies. The WAP was started in response to the energy shortage and the rising price of energy in 1976. The WAP is designed to help low-income people, particularly the elderly and handicapped, to overcome the high cost of energy through conservation.

What services does
WAP provide?

The following measures are offered free of charge to eligible clients:

  • Caulking and sealing cracks and holes in the building's structure
